More practicing methods for pixel art. This time instead of Gradient Maps / Shading / B&W I combined them all early and then painted mat. Ultimately as much time cleaning up this time as I did adjusting maps before (and it still isn't really clean, or as textured as I'd like...
This is Cuddabun, the evolution of Dauerpuss.
If you let a Dauerpuss make a kittencave in your bedsheets it can evolve into Cuddabun. It's not known where their legs begin since they are tucked underneath. When you sleep they will lay on top of you under the covers & your wounds will heal faster.
Also experimenting w/ different methods for making pixel art. This time working with Gradient Maps - which always feels like it's not worth the trouble. Matte painting seems less editable, e.g. in the future, color changes for game art or something, and gradient maps seem to be too tricky in terms of getting the colors I want w/o damaging underlying texture.
Pokedex entry: "The Dauerpuss makes it's 'kitten caves' from blankets of leaves & stays inside almost all year round - lamenting it's wasted life when it isn't distracted; scolding trespassers on what it considers to be it's 'property'. Ironically the evolution of Dauerpuss is much more lighthearted and energetic. If captured Dauerpuss will be quite content to make a kitten cave out of it's masters blanket where it will purr and snuggle indefinitely."
"My interest is disentangling the moment we are having - disentangling the reactionary/xenophobic movement from the legitimate grievances of people who are being left behind by our current economic/political consensus."
